Welcome to Wa-Qi.com!

Welcome to the WaQi program for self-care. It is with gratitude that we make our programs of self-care and self-nurturing available to you. Here is a basic introduction to WaQi and our programs:

What is WaQi?

It is a system for making positive changes in mind, body and spirit. It is developed around scientifically validated elements/ of the ancient practices of t’ai chi and qigong.

How can WaQi help you?

  • Physically,

    • It is an effective way to renew energy.  This is called Grand Opening and Closing. You generate tremendous energy by breathing in fresh and powerful energy from nature.

    • We use standing meditation to improve body alignment, balance, and especially sleep. We all carry hidden tension in our bodies. Standing meditation can help us identify and relieve tension, which in turn can improve sleep.

    • We also practice spiral flexibility exercises to stretch and loosen the body in unique ways. In Rising Dragon. You lengthen and rotate your body simultaneously to open the hips, spine, shoulders…. This movements helped relieve me of debilitating back and hip pain following a bad bike accident.

    • One can work on cardio fitness through agility exercises. Here is an example called Cross Country Skiing. You start slowly to work on your balance, breathing, and range of motion. As your physical conditioning improves, you can gradually speed up to get more cardio benefits. Further, you can deepen the challenge and progress to the Warrior’s Jump to make your body feel 6 months, 1 year, or even 5 years younger.  Don’t worry, I will help you get there step by step.

  • Mentally, we work to comprehend and internalize abiding truths in life. This is done in silence to create a healing perspective that enhances our daily interactions, reducing stress and leading to personal growth.

    • According Chinese philosophy, human beings are born with kindness. Contemplation of this abiding truth leads to more balanced and tranquil interactions.

  • Spiritually, we meditate to awaken and nurture our human heartedness. Connecting ever more deeply with our innate kindness in meditation yields strength and resilience in the face of challenges and adversities. When we work from this compassionate core, we are happiest and most fulfilled, and we are more centered and purposeful in our life journey.

You might wonder, can I do it?

Yes. After more than four decades of traditional training and having earned a PhD in kinesiology in the U.S., I am able to demystify and distill the ancient healing and martial arts into their most essential, accessible and enjoyable components. These can be practiced in as short as 3-minute segments and can be done almost anywhere—for example, one can practice standing meditation on the train or bus on the way to work to improve your sleep and balance. And these exercises can be modified for people in almost any physical condition.

How and when can I start?

Our wa-qi.com website provides the following programs 24/7.

To close the introduction, I would like to share another abiding truth from Chinese philosophy:

"Extending kindness to others starts with self-care."
